Lawton Public Schools Career Fair

With the expansion of Fort Sill through the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) initiative, the Lawton Public School District anticipates a substantial student increase presenting numerous teaching opportunities in most fields for the 2009-10 school year

The Lawton Public Schools 2009 Job Fair is scheduled for Thursday, April 2nd at Central Middle School from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm.

The district is looking forward to meeting prospective employees and discussing with them the many teaching opportunities with the Lawton Public Schools.

National History Day Prize for Students

Students nationwide can compete for the Constitutional Rights in History prize Arlington, VA - The Bill of Rights Institute announced their collaboration with National History Day (NHD) today.

The Institute is sponsoring the Constitutional Rights in History prize, awarded to an outstanding entry in any category, from both the senior and junior divisions, which documents and analyzes how individuals have exercised their constitutional rights throughout American history.

Brenda Turner honored as Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year

Professional Oklahoma Educators member Brenda Turner of Jenks Public Schools was selected as Walmart Teacher of the Year by Walmart Store #894 in Tulsa.

A student submitted the nomination at a local Walmart store, and store officials presented Brenda with the award at a school assembly on September 26.  The school was presented with $1,000 in Brenda's honor.  She also received a certificate and $100 to use personally for her classroom.
