Robert King

As an Oklahoma native, Robert W. King has earned degrees from two Oklahoma universities.  After graduating from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Bob began his 27-year career in the oil and gas industry working for Cities Service Oil and Gas Company and Occidental Petroleum.  Bob started out developing computer applications for the production engineering department.  While working at Cities Service, Bob earned an MBA degree from the University of Tulsa.  He held various management positions in information technology ranging from exploration to accounting systems.  He taught leadership skills to diverse segments of the company and also served on profit improvement teams.  Bob became a public school teacher in 2004 when he had the opportunity to teach math for two years in the inner-city of Miami, Florida, at Miami Central High School.  Bob taught Algebra and Statistics at Norman North High School for 10 years before retiring in 2016.  He received National Board Certification in 2009 and was recognized by POE as Teacher of the Year in 2011.

Bob and his wife Karen have two grown children and twin grandchildren.  Bob is an active member of the Gideon’s International and through his church, he mentors and tutors Chinese men attending OU.
