Betty Minton

Betty Minton has been an active Professional Okahoma Educators member since 1998. She served as State Vice President in 1998 and as President in 1999. Ms. Minton was among the charter members of the local organization in Anadarko and also served as first president of that group.
Ms. Minton currently serves as assistant principal at Oklahoma City's Southeast High School, and previously served as a language arts and social studies teacher as well as the Library Media Specialist at Anadarko Middle School. She received her Bachelor’s degree from USAO in 1984 and her Master’s degree from SWOSU in 1995. Ms. Minton also earned National Board certification in library media in 2002. She holds certification in language arts, social studies, library media, elementary principal, secondary principal, and superintendent.
Ms. Minton has been selected as Anadarko Middle School Teacher of the Year twice and was named District Teacher of the Year in 1991. She received the educator BRICK (Builder and Reinforcer of Intellect and Character in Anadarko’s Kids) award in 2004, was the coordinator of the AR program in her school, served on the professional development committee, and assisted her principal with various administrative duties. Ms. Minton has attended and presented a number of workshops at the local, state, and national levels. She represented Oklahoma educators at the Research to Practice Summit hosted by former Secretary of Education, Rod Paige, in Washington, DC.
Ms. Minton also served on OBEC’s Education Policy Board and is an active member of the Southern Hill Baptist Church in Oklahoma City where she teaches Sunday school and sings in the choir.
